This week, our students had the opportunity to take part in a special incursion celebrating Aboriginal culture. Visitors from the Aboriginal community joined us to share their knowledge, traditions, and stories, providing a hands-on learning experience for all.
Students were introduced to traditional practices such as boomerang and spear throwing. They also took part in a bush tucker and bush medicine session, learning how Aboriginal people use native plants for both food and healing.
One of the highlights of the day was exploring a range of Aboriginal dances, many of which were inspired by animals. Students enjoyed moving, mimicking, and learning about the connection between dance, storytelling, and culture.
The incursion was a wonderful way to deepen our understanding of Australia’s First Nations peoples and their enduring connection to Country.
