Students in the Year 12 VET Construction classes recently completed a hands-on practical task as one of their competency units 'Carry Out Concreting to Simple Forms'. Their task was to pour a concrete pad for a small trailer to sit on.
Working through each step of the process students were required to:
- Plan and prepare the job
- Erect simple framework
- Place and tie reinforcement
- Place concrete
- Strip simple formwork
- Clean up
The activity was a great success, with students not only building practical skills but also enjoying the opportunity to apply what they've learned in a meaningful and tangible way.
