What Matters Writing Competition

You are here

The Whitlam Institute’s What Matters competition is an annual writing competition held in NSW. It aims to give voice to young people on an issue in society that is important to them.

Earlier this year in English we studied speeches that defended marginalised groups, with Year 9 working on their persuasive writing skills to produce their own. Students in 9 Blue each entered one of their pieces into the competition.

We are very pleased to announce that Emilia S has been shortlisted for her piece, titled Breaking the Cycle: The Ongoing Struggle of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples

Emilia’s was one of a number of impressive pieces of writing from the class and we are very proud of her achievement!
