Celebrating Stories, Community and the Gift of Learning
What a wonderful few weeks we have had in Junior School! The beautiful weather added to the excitement as we celebrated Book Week: A Symphony of Stories. Seeing our students arrive for the Parade dressed as much-loved book characters was a highlight, with their creativity and enthusiasm capturing the joy of reading.
One of my favourite childhood books was The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis. I still remember the wonder of stepping through the wardrobe into another world. Great stories expand our imagination, help us see through another’s eyes and introduce us to courage, friendship, sacrifice and hope.
Our Book Fair was another wonderful celebration of reading. I was delighted and surprised by the sheer number of families purchasing books in the JS hall. Thank you to our families for your support and to our staff for making the Fair such a success. Open Classrooms have provided another opportunity for families to share in their children’s learning. Seeing classrooms, exploring books and hearing about learning experiences strengthens the partnership between home and school and reminds our children that their learning matters.
We have also enjoyed celebrating Fathers’ Day and the special adults in our children’s lives. Thank you to our PCN for organising the beautiful gifts to sell, and to the fathers, grandfathers and special adults who contribute so much to the lives of our students.
At the heart of our Christian school community is a commitment to nurturing the whole child growing in learning, wisdom and service. Proverbs 22:6 reminds us to “Start children off on the way they should go.” This is a responsibility we share with families.
Thank you to our Junior School families for the encouragement, engagement and partnership you continue to show. It is a privilege to walk alongside our students as they discover, imagine, question and grow.
