Thank you to the parents who joined us today for our first Cafe Chat Series session for the year.
Following last edition’s invitation, this session provided an opportunity for parents to connect with us for a relaxed conversation about Generative Artificial Intelligence and its place in learning.
Together, we explored how Gen AI is already changing the way students search, create, think and learn, and how the College can help students use these tools wisely, safely and with discernment.
Parents also heard more about the work of the staff working party, which has been exploring a range of Gen AI tools to identify what best suits our students and learning context. The College is working towards making an appropriate Gen AI tool available to students in Years 7–12 from early next term, with staff training and testing continuing in preparation.
Most importantly, the conversation focused on helping students become informed navigators of AI by understanding what Gen AI can do, recognising its limitations and using it responsibly.

We are grateful to the parents who came along and contributed to this important discussion. The presentation slides and handout are available below for families who would like to learn more.
