Welcome Back to Term 3

It has been wonderful to welcome our students back to the College for Term 3. There has been a real buzz around the Junior School as classrooms have quickly filled with enthusiasm, curiosity and a readiness to learn. We are looking forward to another term of growth as we continue to encourage every student to flourish academically, socially and spiritually.

Our Word of the Week is Quality. We are encouraging our students to think about what it means to be a person of quality character and a quality learner. As Christians, we strive to honour God not only through our achievements but through the way we treat others … with kindness, integrity, perseverance and respect.

A particular focus this term is valuing the learning of others. Every child has the right to learn in a classroom where they feel safe, respected and able to do their best. This means making thoughtful choices, listening carefully, following instructions and avoiding behaviours that distract others from learning. When students show respect for their classmates and teachers, they contribute to a positive learning environment where everyone can thrive.

Our Break 2 Games Clubs continue to provide wonderful opportunities for students to build friendships and enjoy time together. Whether participating in games in the K–2 or Years 3–6 spaces, solving puzzles in the Rubik's Cube Club, or creating and collaborating in the Digital Creators Club, students are developing much more than new skills. They are learning to lead, teach, encourage one another and use their God-given creativity as part of a team.

As we settle into the term, thank you for your continued support with our uniform expectations. Please encourage students; 

  • -  to wear their playground hats rather than simply carrying them, 
  • - that bracelets and necklaces are not worn to College, 
  • - girls wear their neckties with the winter uniform
  • - long hair is neatly tied back or above the collar for boys. 

These simple routines help foster a sense of pride, unity and respect across our College community.

Finally, our author visits at the end of last term sparked a genuine excitement for writing. The visiting authors commented on the impressive level of engagement, creativity and eagerness shown by our students as they embraced the writing process. Ms Hansford and I are excited to read many more imaginative stories this term and to see our young authors continue to develop their gifts. Encouraging a love of reading and writing is one of the greatest investments we can make in our children's learning and we look forward to celebrating their creativity in the weeks ahead.
