Our students learned how to prepare the traditional French dish crêpes while also practicing their language skills by ordering their toppings in French. Year 5 thoroughly enjoyed tasting their delicious creations at the end. This hands-on activity offered an engaging and authentic cultural experience as part of their French studies.

I would like to thank our parent helpers as this event would not have been possible without their support throughout the day. The students loved interacting with you and appreciated your guidance as they made their crêpes.

crepe day

Here is what some of our students had to say about the experience:

I really liked the crepes, they were delicious and we could add toppings! It was a really fun experience and the mums were so nice, I wish I could do it again
- Zoe G, 5B

Crepe day was a day of delicious food and laughter when mixing ingredients. The smell of food filling the air while you can’t wait your turn for just food.
(My personal favourite was the traditional style.)
- Liandro L, 5B

I thought it was very fun to learn how to make crepes and a really good experience.
It was also fun to put all your toppings on and eat them.
- Olivia E, 5B

I personally loved making crepes with my classmates! It was very fun and they were really delicious. Also, I really enjoyed learning the vocabulary throughout the term and getting crepes as a reward!
- By Aubrey, 5B

What I liked about crepes is learning how to make French food and trying your best.
- Petar, 5B

I love when we made the crepes and putting all the ingredients with my peers and eating the crepe was really nice.
- Christian K, 5B

Last Thursday we had crepe day! It was amazing because we were allowed to pick our toppings and we were allowed to make the batter with the ingredients provided. It was delicious! I got honey and icing sugar for my toppings. It was a very memorable day.
- Benjamin L, 5B

I loved Crepe Day because of the way we worked as a team to create the delicious French desert. We each had a job and I cracked some eggs but Agam didn’t want to hurt his family. The crepes turned golden brown and then we flipped it. The 4th graders should be very excited for next year. Thanks to all the teachers and parents that helped and especially thank you to Miss Morris.
- Leo V, 5L

All in general, it was tasty, fun and just good. Thanks to the parents who helped make it and it's quite nice having help cooking crepes with people who barely know me! Also, I’d like to thank Mrs Morris for setting everything up and it makes sense she helped everyone instead of a single table. There were a variety of toppings (icing sugar, strawberry jam, chocolate and honey), which just made it so much better. Overall, I had an amazing day and time and I hope I could help one day.
- Nathan D, 5L

J'ai adoré la journée crêpes, car tout le monde était si gentil et joyeux. J'ai adoré cette expérience. Les parents qui nous ont aidés étaient très serviables et nous avons passé une excellente journée. Même les garnitures étaient délicieuses.
I loved pancake day because everyone was so kind and cheerful. I loved the experience. The parents who helped us were very helpful and we had a wonderful day. Even the toppings were delicious.
